The Honor Guard, a group of dedicated members of VFW Post 10132, Hobe Sound, Florida, participates in Funeral, Memorials, Flag Raisings, and Dedications.
The Funeral Service quite often includes a Flag presentation, to the next of kin. A prayer is read by our Chaplain and a beautiful rendition of Amazing Grace is played by our bagpiper. The last roll call will be taken. The service includes a rifle salute; a seven man rifle squad fires three volleys each with their M1 rifles to provide a 21 gun volley for the deceased veteran. The service is concluded with Taps played by our bugler.
We serve our community by participating in local fund raising efforts for Cancer and Alzheimer’s. You will see us marching in the Memorial Day, Christmas, and the 4th of July parades. Our members go to our schools when asked especially on Veterans day and Memorial Day, to talk to the kids about military service and experiences.
We take great pride in our Honor Guard and the services they provide the community and are always looking for new members to join. If interested contact the Captain of Guard, Ron Polzin.
